Do you have an idea that will improve education? The Education Designathon is a hackathon for coders, builders, and education thinkers that will take place from Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at 9:00am to Sunday, March 10th, 2013 at 5:00pm. You don’t have to be a coder to participate; the entire MIT community — staff, faculty, undergrads, and grads—is invited to this event. There will be food and energy drinks all night long as well as over $2,250 in prizes. Machine, code, and design systems to rethink education. Particpants will come together to tackle some of the biggest challenges in education and design multidisciplinary solutions, framed around three spheres: digital learning, hands-on learning, and systems re-thinking. Students will form teams of 3-5 and have a machine shop, prototyping materials, and a $50 budget to develop their idea overnight. EdExperts from the field will introduce their challenges from experience and help students develop their ideas. Space is limited; register online.
