The MIT Global Education & Career Development Office (GECD) serves graduate students as well as undergraduates. GECD also recommends the Individual Development Plan (IDP) for Graduate Students and Postdocs in the Sciences, an interactive, web-based tool to help graduate students and post docs set and achieve long-term and short-term career goals. Developed primarily by career professionals who work with advanced students and postdocs, it includes an assessment portion, suggests tailored career directions you may want to explore based on your results, and offers information about those career paths. It provides you with a clear process for how to explore your options and track your progress. You are also welcome to bring in your IDP results to career advising sessions in Career Services, to discuss your results with a counselor.
Through the MIT Alumni Association’s Infinite Connection, students can access job openings posted by alumni, browse the online alumni directory, participate in professional networking and career change through the Institute Career Assistance Network (ICAN), and participate in the Student/Alumni Externship Program.
