WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN YOUR CURRENT FIELD/WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT IT?

I am passionate about using engineering principles to reprogram and control biological systems in order to solve difficult medical challenges. My interest sparked from my love for research and a heart to serve humanity’s needs.

PERSONAL RESEARCH SUMMARY:

I develop biological and electronic tools to precisely engineer and control biological systems. These systems can be anything from human cells to particles, and can perform computation similar to the way computers do, but they use organic molecules instead of transistors. My objective is being able to develop highly efficient and effective therapies for some of the most complex and difficult-to-cure human diseases.

PERSONAL INTERESTS: I enjoy hosting students and professors for academic discussions, reading science articles, mentoring students, research events, playing the guitar, snowboarding, playing soccer, traveling, and painting.
