ODGE Awards

Generous donors have provided MIT with permanent funds in support of stipend awards for students who fall into unique categories. The Office of the Dean for Graduate Education administers these awards through an annual competition. All nominations must be submitted by the departmental graduate office on behalf of the student. Students who qualify for one of the awards should contact their graduate administrator in order to be considered for nomination.

The following symbols are used in the fellowship descriptions:

Citizens US citizens are eligible
Permanent residents Permanent residents are eligible
Internationals Internationals are eligible

ODGE awards: Deadline April 25, 2014, 5:00 p.m.

Each department may nominate one student per award. Renewals will not be considered; awards are only for the year in which they are given.

Ho-Ching and Han-Ching Fund Award

Number of Awards: Two
Field: Unrestricted
Amount: $2,500 Scholarship
Tenure: One-time award, not renewable.
Eligibility: InternationalsCitizensPermanent residentsFor an enrolled or incoming graduate student from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai, China). A second preference will be given to graduates from other Chinese engineering universities if no students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University are currently enrolled or have been offered admission.

Number of Awards: Two

Amount: $1,500 scholarship
Tenure: One-time award, not renewable
Eligibility: Internationals For a graduate student from either the Ecole Centrale or the Lycée Louis le Grand.

NEEKEYFAR Fund Award

Amount: $2,500 scholarship

Eligibility: InternationalsCitizensPermanent residents For a graduate student from Iran or, if there are none, to a graduate student of Iranian descent.

Louis G. Seigle Award

Number of Awards: One
Field: Unrestricted
Amount: 3 months of summer stipend ($7,722 total, tentative)
Tenure: One-time award, not renewable
Eligibility: CitizensPermanent residentsFor a graduate student pursuing entrepreneurial activities, or one who has proposed such activities; must be a Texas citizen. First priority given to citizens of the Houston Texas area with a second priority available to other Texans.

Elie Shaio Memorial Award

Number of Awards: Four
Field: Schools of Engineering or Science, or the Department of Economics
Amount: $3,000 scholarship
Tenure: One-time award, not renewable
Eligibility: InternationalsCitizensPermanent residentsFirst preference to graduates of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel; second preference to any Israeli citizen who has completed a degree at any university in Israel; and third preference to any graduate student in any department who is recommended by the Board of Directors of the B’Nai B’rith Hillel Foundation.
